What is Hell? And How to Avoid It. | Homily for the 33rd Sunday of Ordinary Time | Fr. Will Rooney
November 19th, 2023 | Season 3 | 9 mins 47 secs
33, a, hell, judgement, ot
We don't like to admit that Hell is a reality - it makes us uncomfortable to think about. Yet, Jesus speaks often speaks of it. No one goes to Hell accidently, and “God predestines no one to go to hell; for this, a willful turning away from God (a mortal sin) is necessary, and persistence in it until the end." God loves us so much that he gives us the freedom to choose against loving him. But we can always choose to return to him, while we live there is hope. Turn to the Lord and be saved!

Ready for Judgment? | Homily for the 32nd Sunday of Ordinary Time | Fr. Will Rooney
November 12th, 2023 | Season 3 | 14 mins 13 secs
32, a, judgement, ot
These are the conditions for each of us to win at the game of life. If we wish to enter and share the joy of the wedding feast, we must live so as to love God above all things and our neighbor for God’s sake. This is what Jesus means when he says stay awake! Stay awake to the fact you will die, and that heaven awaits you, if only you choose it. “Every action of yours, every thought, should be those of one who expects to die before the day is out. Death would have no great terrors for you if you had a quiet conscience.… Then why not keep clear of sin instead of running away from death? If you aren’t fit to face death today, it’s very unlikely you will be tomorrow”.… Imitation of Christ 1.23.1
