Learning is a new language is a tremendously difficult undertaking. A. Through his Word and out of his great goodness, all things came into being. This means that all creation speaks, so to speak, of the Creator. The invisible and visible creation all points to the goodness of the creator. God is speaking to us; creation, the prophets, the law and in a sense all things are the voice he uses to reveal himself. This is what the letter to the Hebrews speaks of today: “In times past, God spoke in partial and various ways to our ancestors through the prophets” When the Word becomes flesh, when he Robes himself with human nature, there can be no greater self-revelation.

The genealogy also includes a wide mixture of great saints and great sinners and people in between. B. The radical claim of Christianity is that the Word who spoke creation into being became a Baby who could not speak a word. God becomes incarnate. He takes on flesh and blood. He takes on a human mind and a human will. He assumes humanity to himself. He became like us in all things but sin.

The infant Jesus lying in the manger reveals God. When he smiles, God smiles. When he cries, God cries. When he grasps the finger of Mary or Joseph or a shepherd, it is God grasping the human hand. The delightful and defenseless infant Jesus gently demands something from us. The child of Bethlehem gently invites us to love him…and responding to that invitation love means changing our lives.
